Wat komt Mira bij!! Ze is zo leuk en vrolijk geworden en is de ook de aanstichter van het nieuwe uitlaat ritueel!
Hier deden we het voor om Mira nog blijer te maken. Ze was al ontzettend lief en steeds blijer maar dit was de beste zet ooit! 💖

Het lijkt zelfs of ze minder angstig is op straat en meer gewoon laat gebeuren. Ze vind bv harden geluiden erg vervelend. Vrachtwagens die voorbij sjezen, of trekkers op het land, aanhangers die net even te hard over de drempels met al het kabaal van dien. En daar lijkt ze minder op te reageren sinds Willem er is. 

Dat is echt exact waar wij het voor gedaan hebben! Dat Mira meer plezier heeft en vooral minder angsten. 
En nog wat jaren kan genieten met haar maatje Willem. Wat zijn wij trots op allebei!

What a difference Mira has made!! She has become so nice and cheerful and is also the instigator of the new exhaust ritual!

This is what we did it for to make Mira even happier. She was already incredibly sweet and increasingly happy but this was the best move ever! 💖

It even seems as if she is less anxious on the street and just lets things happen more. For example, she finds loud noises very annoying. Trucks that rush past, or tractors in the field, trailers that just go a little too fast over the thresholds with all the noise that entails. And she seems to react less to that since Willem has been there. 

That is exactly what we did it for! So that Mira has more fun and especially less fears. 

And can enjoy a few more years with her buddy Willem. We are so proud of both of them!

4 weken

Vandaag is Willem , exact 4 weken bij ons, om nooit meer weg te gaan. 
Gisteren weer even goed kunnen oefenen op Kootwijkerduin, dat is een omheind losloop gebied. En vooralsnog luistert hij erg goed! Komt meteen als je hem roept. Natuurlijk met beloning. 

Mira is helemaal blij! Ze heeft een maatje waar ze mee kan spelen en verveelt zich niet meer. Ze leef helemaal op. En ze wordt volgende maand alweer 8. Echt zo leuk!!

Wat een heerlijk stel zijn ze! Lekker samen ravotten! 

Today Willem is with us for exactly 4 weeks, never to leave again. 

Yesterday we were able to practice again at Kootwijkerduin, which is a fenced off-leash area. And so far he listens very well! Comes immediately when you call him. Of course with a reward. 

Mira is very happy! She has a buddy to play with and is no longer bored. She comes alive. And she will be 8 next month. Really so much fun!!

WAUW!

Wat een verschil in die 3 weken! Die kroepoeken gaan niet meer omlaag. Paar joekels ook hahaha. Ik hoop stiekem dat ze zo lekker groot blijven. :D

We kregen een leuk dingetje van onze dochter die je op je foon zet en daar een koekje in doet. Zodat de hond zich focust erop.
Maar die had ik niet eens nodig. Meneer ging er al voor zitten. 💖

Er word elke dag getraind met hem en hij luistert echt goed, danzij die joekels denk ik. En hij kan al, zit, lig, rollen, kijk (dat is op mij focussen). Ik doe aan gebarencommando's omdat ik dat leuk vind en zelf slechthorend ben en ook een beetje een NL gebarentaal doe.
Alleen staan en komen, dat is nog lastig. Maar we hebben geen haast.

Prompt komt onze 8jarige rescue Mira ook ineens meedoen. Nouja meedoen. Ze komt wat lekkers halen en de grap is, toen we haar net kregen... moest ze die snoepjes niet en nu staat ze in de rij hahaha maar iets ervoor doen, ho maar hahahaha

What a difference in those 3 weeks! Those kroepoeken won't go down anymore. A couple of whoppers too hahaha. I secretly hope they stay that big. :D We got a nice thing from our daughter that you put on your phone and put a cookie in it. So that the dog focuses on it. But I didn't even need that. Mister already sat down for it. 💖 We train with him every day and he listens really well, thanks to those whoppers I think. And he can already sit, lie down, roll over, look (that's focusing on me). I do sign commands because I like that and I'm hard of hearing myself and also do a bit of Dutch sign language. Just standing and coming, that's still difficult. But we're in no hurry. Promptly our 8-year-old rescue Mira suddenly joins in. Well, join in. She comes to get some treats and the funny thing is, when we first got her... she didn't want those sweets and now she's standing in line hahaha but doing something for it, no way hahahaha

Wat een heerlijk stel zijn ze! 
Bij Mira is er iets ontwaakt en ze is echt een boef geworden. 💗 Doet allemaal dingen die ze nog nooit gedaan heeft! En ze ze daagt Willem uit om lekker ravotten. 💗 Dat mag ze zeker en ach ons grasveldje, dat zien we over een paar jaar wel weer.

Het is het meer dan wat dan ook waard om Mira uit haar schulp te zien kruipen en te zien genieten! Ze is inmiddels ook al bijna 8.
Dan boeit ons dat echt niets. Natuurlijk, niet slopen. Gewoon geweldig om haar zo te zien op te bloeien. 

Ze let ook echt op hem, zeker met onbekende honden, is ze trouwens rustiger en ze houd het in de gaten dat ze lief tegen Willem doen.  Maar niet op een bazige manier. Gewoon zoals het (moeder)hond betaamt. 

💗 Heerlijk! Wij genieten van volle teugen van beide!! 💗

In de voliere mogen ze hun gang gaan, aangezien er geen vogels meer in zitten.

What a lovely couple they are! 

Something has awakened in Mira and she has really become a rascal. 💗 Does all kinds of things she has never done before! And she challenges Willem to romp around. 💗 She is certainly allowed to do that and oh well, our lawn, we will see about that in a few years. 

It is more than worth it to see Mira come out of her shell and enjoy herself! She is almost 8 now. 

Then we really don't care. Of course, don't destroy her. Just great to see her blossom like this. 

She also really pays attention to him, especially with unknown dogs, she is also calmer and she keeps an eye on them being nice to Willem. But not in a bossy way. Just like a (mother) dog should.

Wat een stel zijn ze samen. Heerlijk! 

Mira heeft wel een beetje last van een ochtendhumeur en Willem is natuurlijk al klaarwakker zodra hij zijn ogen open doet haha. Mira heeft daar geen zin in. 

Echter, na 10 minuten daagt ze hem zelf uit. 

Heerlijk om te zien dat ze van Willem tot leven komt en dat het zo goed gaat en dat al binnen 14 dagen. 

Fantastisch!

Dit was de voliere en hier mogen ze lekker in ravotten, ook lekker voor in de zomer. 

This was the aviary and they can romp around here, also nice in the summer.

What a couple they are together. Lovely! 

Mira does suffer a bit from a morning mood and Willem is of course wide awake as soon as his eyes open haha. Mira doesn't feel like that. 

However, after 10 minutes she challenges him herself. 

Lovely to see that she comes alive from Willem and that it is going so well and that already within 14 days.

Willem's verhaal

Willem
Zijn verhaal is nog niet zo lang geleden begonnen. Ongeveer rond 3 oktober 2024. Hij is gevonden door Hector's House Crete op Kreta samen met zijn zusje en 2 broertjes in een afvoer. Moederhond was nergens te bekennen en ze hadden geluk wat een paar dagen later ging het regenen. We denken maar niet aan wat er had kunnen gebeuren.  

Alle 4 de pups zijn geadopteerd. Willem heette eerst Bashful. Via de Atlas Animal Project stichting zijn wij dus in contact gekomen. Aanrader trouwens. Ze doen echt echt super! Kijk zeker op hun site, er zijn nog zat katten en honden die een warm thuis zoeken.

Willem
His story started not so long ago. Around October 3, 2024. He was found by Hector's House Crete on Crete together with his sister and 2 brothers in a drain. Mother dog was nowhere to be seen and they were lucky because a few days later it started raining. We can't stop thinking about what could have happened. 

All 4 puppies have been adopted. Willem was first called Bashful. We got in touch via the Atlas Animal Project foundation. Recommended by the way. They really do a great job! Definitely check out their site, there are still plenty of cats and dogs looking for a warm home.

Mira's verhaal

Het verhaal van Mira,
Eigenlijk is die heel kort want we weten niks. Zo simpel is het. 

We zagen haar op de site van verhuisdieren en ze was toevallig ook al in ons dorp bij iemand. 
Blijkt dat ze tot onegveer 3.5jaar in Roemenie heeft gezeten en wat wij begrepen hebben, of dit klopt, geen idee.  Dat ze vanaf geboorte tot aug 2020 in Roemenie zat. Toen ze in aug 2020 nar Nl gekomen en daar blijkt dat heel veel mensen zich vergissen in een oudere rescue hond. Ze verwachten een kant en klare hond maar het blijkt gewoon teveel te zijn voor 6 mensen, dus 6 adressen, gemiddeld binnen een maand, wilden ze alweer van haar af. 


Totdat wij haar zagen. En feb 2021 is ze bij ons gekomen. Doodsangsten stond ze uit. Vertrouwen in de mens was -0% graatje mager. En alleen maar bang, doodsbang.  

Dit was 6 feb 2021. Doodsbang, kon uren zo in 1 houding blijven liggen en zo mogelijk bewegen. Zo zielig. En zo jammer dat er zo onnodig is geleurd met haar. 

Wij zijn mensen die nooit zomaar zeggen "oh nee" wordt niks.  Wij passen ons aan de hond tot zekere hoogte natuurlijk. En dit heeft goed uitgepakt. 

We zijn inmiddels 4 jaar verder en het vertrouwen in vreemde mensen is er nog steeds niet, maar dat is niet erg.  Wel in ons en dat is het belangrijkste. Ze kan lekker los buiten en zal je niks doen. Ze houd niet van blaffende honden, dan loopt ze erom heen. 

Ze knuffelt graag en is de leukste en liefste hond ter wereld!

Ik (Diana) liep jaren met een stok maar sinds Mira er is, niet. Loop ik zonder. Behalve als ik echt bv ergens over een markt slenter ofzo, dan is het mij wel echt te veel. Maar lekker (door)wandelen gaat prima zonder stok.

Mira's story,

It turns out that she was in Romania until about 3.5 years old and from what we understood, whether this is correct, no idea. That she was in Romania from birth until August 2020. When she came to the Netherlands in August 2020 and it turns out that a lot of people are mistaken about an older rescue dog. They expect a ready-made dog but it turns out to be just too much for 6 people, so 6 addresses, on average within a month, they wanted to get rid of her again. 

Until we saw her. And in February 2021 she came to us. She was scared to death. Trust in humans was -0%, a bit thin. And only scared, scared to death.

This was Feb 6, 2021. Terrified, could stay in one position for hours and move if possible. So sad. And such a shame that she was peddled so unnecessarily. 

We are people who never just say "oh no" nothing will come of it. We adapt to the dog to a certain extent of course. And this has worked out well. We are now 4 years further and the trust in strangers is still not there, but that is not bad. It is in us and that is the most important thing. She can walk freely outside and will not do anything to you. She does not like barking dogs, then she walks around them. 

She likes to cuddle and is the nicest and sweetest dog in the world! 

I (Diana) walked with a cane for years but not since Mira has been there. I walk without it. Except when I really stroll through a market or something, then it is really too much for me. But walking (continuously) is fine without a stick.

Omdat wij zelf zo enorm positief verrast zijn met onze beslissing om een maatje, Willem, voor Mira bij te nemen en dit zelfs boven verwachting goed gaat en dat binnen 14 dagen!  Kan het niet anders om een blog te maken.

Niet iedereen heeft social media en hier hoef je niks. Zou natuurlijk wel leuk zijn als je zo nu en dan eens een leuke reactie achterlaat of misschien zelf een blog start over je rescue honden. En de link deelt met ons, dan gaan wij jouw zeker ook volgen. 

Door het traumatische verleden van Mira was het wel een risico maar dit was echt een schot in de roos! Onze timing kon niet beter. 

Aan de zijkant vind je o.a. links naar de shelter waar Willem ( voorheen Bashful) zat en de lieve stichting die ons zo goed bijstaan met alles en alles top verzorgen en dat alles, ook de shelter, geheel vrijwillig! 

Mira ging nooit uit haar zelf de tuin in, laat staan lekker in het zonnetje liggen!! Binnen 10 dagen deed ze het! Wauw!! Willem haalt het beste maar ook een beetje het stoute uit Mira en wat is dat geweldig leuk om te zien! Dat ze elkaar zo leuk vinden.

Because we ourselves were so positively surprised with our decision to take a buddy, Willem, for Mira and this even went better than expected and that within 14 days! There is no other way to make a blog.
